What customers say?

“ I love Avatar Indian Bistro. We come here a lot for family dinners and we always enjoy our meal here. They have a nice variety of vegetarian options and the food is delicious. The staff are kind and always quick with service. This is a must try for their lunch special which is served every week day. My husband and I just tried it for the first time and we can’t believe the amount of food we were just served for the price. It is 22 per person for two entrees, a salad, tea or soda, rice and nan. The salad was unique and delicious. We will be making a point of coming for the lunch special whenever possible. ”

“ Came here for my husband's birthday and oh my gosh it was soooo good. We went on a weekday night. Service was great- our server made amazing suggestions and we were happy with everything we ordered. Plenty of food, amazing flavor, and a very enjoyable atmosphere. I hope that people know about this place because it was completely empty with the exception of a few takeout orders during our meal. But we did go on a weekday night so that's probably a good reason why. Anyway, try this place. You won't regret it! ”

“ Avatar had a great atmosphere with soft instrumental Indian music and incense in the air. The Garlic and Cilantro Naan was thin style and a mix of soft and crunchy textures. The garlic and cilantro flavors created an excellent combination. We ended up ordering more. The Lamb Vindaloo was moist, savory, and flavorful. It wasn't the softest lamb vindaloo I've had, though, with a couple of slightly chewy pieces. The medium spicy level was okay. If you're used to spicy flavors, I'd recommend a higher level if you want a kick. The Butter Chicken had a soft, buttery texture to start and finished with a rich herbal and spicy flavor. The medium spicy level is satisfying if you are used to spicy flavors. The Basmati Rice was soft yet firm and had enough flavor to enjoy on its own. I'd say one order is just enough for 2-3 people with two entrees. ”

“ As soon as I took my first bite I was instantly transported to the streets of India. Each dish tastes homemade. The chicken biryani is the best I’ve had in any Indian restaurant in the Sacramento area. Honestly, I haven’t found a better Indian restaurant anywhere else in Northern California. All the others have been terrible and don’t even come close to the authenticity of this Indian restaurant. Even the service was top notch. Our server was the manager (I believe his name was Sagar) and he was a very nice guy. I will definitely be coming back to try more authentic Indian delights ”

“ Amazing Indian food! This is a unique place with a smaller menu of amazingly well prepared dishes. I strongly recommend the avocado Chaat!! The apricot fig salad was incredible! UPDATE or second review: I don't write reviews every time we go somewhere, but this place is so good I need to update the review every so often. So we had not been here in a while just busy and it's a little bit out of our way, but the good is really good so we had time to run over here later in the evening about an hour before closing. I can't tell you enough that everything I've tried is just amazingly delicious. I have been wanting to try to mixed vegetable coconut curry, so today I finally ordered it. I'm going to tell you to order the next time you go there it's amazing. The coconut curry sauce was delectable I've never had a sauce quite like this one it was just amazing, the coconut was obvious but not over powering, and the other flavors in the sauce mixed well and complimented each other. I was amazed at the crispness of the vegetables, they were absolutely the perfect texture cooked just enough, but still crunchy. I will tell you no matter what you order it will be delicious, but do yourself a favor and try this mixed vegetable coconut curry! ”

“ Great find in Granite Bay, CA. The food was delicious. Service excellent Nice ambiance with soft music. Ordered Yellow Daal Tadka which was piping hot and very tasty and the Garlic Cilantro Naan was freshly made. Ended with a perfectly made Masala chai. Waiter asked if I wanted refill on my Chai . (Chai refills were free!). Had a nice seating area for people that came to pickup. Will definitely revisit to try other items like Apricot Fig Salad. ”

“ Honestly such a quaint little place. It’s a hidden gem in the area. Every few weeks I’ll order from here as a “treat myself” meal. I always recommend this place to friends who want REALLY GOOD Indian food. If you want a suggestion, try their lamb and goat cheese kebab in house. The first time I came here with my partner I ordered it on a whim and I’ve ordered it every time since. This place is so good that I come here all the way from Sacramento. 10/10 would recommend. ”

“ Just after our first visit, it became one of our favorite Indian places in the area! Stepping in the first thing we noticed is the decor and it's really well done; from the God pictures on the wall, to the table cloth to the wall painting and the other small knick knacks. Absolutely loved how they have done up the place and a lot of the elements brought up the memories of my childhood home. It's tasteful without being stereotypical or tacky. Coming to the food, we ordered: black garam daal, spinach kofta, garlic coriander Naan and onion naan and really enjoyed it. It was perfectly flavourful and we'll definitely be going back to try other items on the menu. But the thing that stood out the most and will keep us going again and again is the warmth and hospitality of the staff and management, which is reflected in all their customer interactions. If you're looking for good Indian food in the Folsom/Roseville/Granite Bay area, this place should definitely be on your list! ”
